This seems to have been the case.  I installed libcurl 7.10.7 and saw what
looked like the same problem.  And your suggestion of trying -lssl and
-lcrypto seems to have fixed it.  So the fix should soon be in the darcs
repo, and you could try it out.

Incidentally, it seems that pushing from MacOS no longer works (at least
for me).  :( I'm not sure what caused this... I'm pretty sure it worked
before, and the only email change I can think of recently is quoting the
"To" address, which seems unlikely to be the culprit...
