[darcs-users] Darcs newbie: create publicly available remote darcs repository?

Hi,

I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France), and a 100%
GNU/Linux user since 2001.

I'm currently trying to get a grasp of Darcs, following the suggestion
of a friend who is a specialist in the field. We are working on a
collaborative project, where he will take care of the more gory details.

I am working through the Darcs manual, slowly and somewhat painfully,
beginning from getting started, since my pal was so kind to send me a
precompiled binary (btw: I'm using Slackware Linux 10.2).

I downloaded a remote project using darcs, so this works ok.

First question that arises: can I define a remote repository (or:
mirror, island) on my webserver http://www.kikinovak.net, even if I
can't install darcs there? Which means: is a "banal" webserver
(accessible via http and/or ftp) capable to host a darcs repository? Or
has darcs to be installed there?

One dragon at a time, so I'll be back later. Cheers,

Niki Kovacs
