A general problem with Software installed from source packages with make
install routines.

I generally make my own Debian Package for software I like. I also fell
over checkinstall which is quite helpful with this -  at least you get a
package fast, I didn't check the packages' quality.

Checkinstall uses installwatch, which might be more helpful in the case
you already installed the source package without checkinstall:
