Yes, history will be preserved fine. It may not be possible, however,
to do a darcs get (especially with older darcs) onto a
case-insensitive filesystem. You can do a darcs get --partial, or
copy an existing repo without trouble, however. The new hashed format
will work fine for this purpose, but it may undergo another format
change before the release of darcs 2.0.
