[darcs-users] code.haskell.org now running darcs 2.5.2; upgrade your repos!

Hi all,

One of our bigger groups of users is Haskellers, so I think this message might be appropriate. The server code.haskell.org is now running darcs 2.5.2 (I just randomly noticed).

If you have a repository on there, now's your chance to upgrade it to the hashed format. This format has been around since Darcs 2 was introduced in 2008, and interoperates with the darcs 1 "old-fashioned" format (in other words, you can push/pull patches between hashed and old-fashioned repos)

All you need to do is

ssh code.haskell.org
cd /srv/code/yourproject
darcs gzcrcs --check
darcs optimize --upgrade

Doing so will make it faster for your users to get darcs repositories.

Thanks!

Eric

PS: we should probably put up an announcement on haskell-cafe and the darcs blog after waiting a bit to make sure we've mentioned all the right details :-)

PPS: the gzcrcs --check is properly speaking part of the upgrade, but code.haskell.org has been running darcs 2.0.2 for so long, and I just heard some complaints about corrupt CRC warnings.
